Mount Royal Entrance Awards for Academic Excellence
Eligible international students can apply for the President’s Scholarship, where they are awarded CAD 7,500. This scholarship is awarded based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities and leadership experience.

For current students, there are around 800 awards available giving up to CAD 6,000 each.

Students apply for awards using a single awards application once they have submitted their university application. If students match the necessary criteria an award will be given. For more information on scholarship and funding opportunities students can visit the university website.

Career Services

During their time at MRU, and after they graduate, students can receive support with their careers. The helpful Career Services offer career planning support, work experience and cooperative education programs, online resources, one-to-one appointments with career development coordinators, job search advice, application critiques and more.

During the summer, typically a busy time for students looking for career experience, hundreds of MRU students in programs such as environmental science, accounting and policy studies, are placed in internships and co-op work terms. Over 50 percent of MRU programs provide opportunities for industry placement.

Building a Business from Class Studies
Mount Royal is also known for helping students develop the skills to build their own businesses. Programs offer entrepreneurial training and campus competitions provide business development and funding opportunities through the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

For example, Paul Shumlich graduated from Mount Royal with a Bachelor of Business Administration — General Management and a minor in Entrepreneurship in 2017. He is the co-founder of the company Deepwater Farms. The business began taking off after winning CAD 30,000 in cash and in-kind services at Mount Royal’s JMH LaunchPad Pitch Competition, sponsored by JMH & Co., an Alberta accounting firm.

Whether they’re growing nutrient-rich vegetables in indoor, vertical farms or designing confidence-building clothing from sustainable fabrics, Mount Royal University graduates across all disciplines are learning to develop innovative mindsets to propel them into their future careers.

Students are classed as international applicants if they:

Live and apply from outside of Canada and require a visa or study permit

They can prove their proficiency through the following tests and scores, or equivalent:
